Grade 10 Moving-Up Ceremony

After a year of braving the waves of virtual classes, the Philippine Institute of Quezon City (PIQC) celebrated its Virtual Moving-Up Ceremony for Grade 10 Batch 2021 last May 29, 2021. With the same theme for Grades 6 and 12, “Enduring Life’s Challenges Towards Success.”

To say that this year has been a challenging year for everyone would be an understatement. We were forced to accept change as the world slowly shifted to do everything virtually. Students were forced to stay at home and attend classes in front of their screens instead of face to face. It was a strenuous climb towards success, but this year’s batch of Grade 10 students proved that they can surely go over the top and claim their victory in the end.

The ceremony started with an invocation led by the batch’s third honor’s for English, Randeen Zafia Lim. Followed by an introduction for the guest speaker by Ashley Ann Berzabal, the batch’s second honors for English. It was both an honor and a privilege to have an esteemed member of the Filipino – Chinese community, and the Chairman of PIQC’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Manuel Co as the guest speaker for the virtual moving-up ceremony. In which, he praised the school for being able to seamlessly adjust to the virtual set-up to fit the needs of the student for the online classes; as well as reminding the students not to forget to give back to the community as they are molded to become G.I.A.N.T.S – Globally Competitive, Innovative, Adaptive, Nationalistic, Technologically – Skilled, and Socially – Responsible

This was followed by the presentation and confirmation of completers which was headed by the Vice Principal for Academic AffairsVPAA, Mrs. Liezyl Tamayo and by the beloved School Directress, Mrs. Lee Shu Hwei.

The achievements and successes of the completers were also celebrated during the virtual ceremony which was headed once again by the VPAA, and the Chinese Supervisor, Mrs. Kelly Ong. The Chinese and English completers were then presented by their English Class Adviser, Mr. Mark Allen Genegani, and their Chinese Class Advisers, Ms. Rei-Ann Shu for Gr. 10 Responsibility, and Mrs. Lolly Te for Grade 10 Trustworthiness.

Afterwards, the Grade 10 students performed their completion song titled “The Verge”, as interpreted by their own batch mates – Jean Maverick Cheng, Jedrick Nielsen Cu, and Chelsea Mae Co. Lastly, the first honors for English and Chinese, Kynan Co gave his words of gratitude for the entire PIQC community.

The PIQC family also celebrated the life of Mr. Ferdinand Manabat or Kuya Ferdie, one of the maintenance personnel of the school, and Mrs. Zeny Clemente or Ma’am Zeny who was one of the teachers in the English faculty. As the saying goes, “gone, but not forgotten,” the PIQC family will surely remember the sacrifices and the love given by two of the family members whom we lost during this trying times.

The PIQC community is more than proud of the achievements of this year’s Grade 10 Completers. They were able to show vigor, strength, faith, and enthusiasm as they finish their race victoriously. May they continue to spread their wings as they soar high and reach the top and achieve their goals.

Congratulations, Grade 10 Class of 2021 – Archers!
